Questions
Can’t find your answer? Write to us. A person reads every message.
Is Path & Light free?
Yes. Reading every Bible, search, highlights and bookmarks, the journal, reminders, widgets and a few Ask questions a day are free. Path & Light Plus is an optional subscription that adds more Ask questions, written and personal prayers, full reading plans, audio, study notes, chapter quizzes and the original Hebrew and Greek words.
What does Plus cost?
Plus is $79.99 a year, $12.99 a month or $4.99 a week in the US, billed by Apple. The yearly plan may include a free trial. You can cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. See the Terms of Use for details.
Which Bible translations are included?
15 Bibles in 7 languages. English: KJV, NIV, ESV, NKJV, NASB 2020 and the World English Bible. Spanish: Reina-Valera 1960 and 1909. Portuguese: NTLH and Almeida. Korean: 개역개정 and the Korean Bible (1910). Tagalog: Ang Dating Biblia. Chinese: 和合本 in Simplified and Traditional. The KJV comes with the app; the others are a free download, and some need a free account. See all Bibles.
Can I listen to the Bible?
Yes, with Plus. Narration of all 66 books is available in the KJV, NIV, NKJV, NASB 2020, World English Bible, Reina-Valera 1960 and 1909, NTLH, Almeida and Chinese 和合本, and more of the ESV is being added. You can stream chapters or download them for offline listening. See Audio Bible.
Does it have study notes?
Yes, with Plus. Every chapter has study notes from Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary and the Jamieson-Fausset-Brown commentary, adapted into plain English, every chapter has a short quiz, and you can tap a verse to see its original Hebrew or Greek words. See Study Bible.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Downloaded Bibles, search, study notes and your journal work offline. Ask needs a connection, and audio needs to be downloaded first.
Can I trust the answers to my questions?
Ask points back to Scripture, cites verses you can open in context, and says where Christian traditions read a passage differently. Answers are written by AI and can be mistaken, so read the passage yourself and bring important questions to your pastor or church.
Who can see my journal?
Your journal is kept on your device and synced to your account so it survives a lost or replaced phone. It’s encrypted in transit and at rest, though not end-to-end. Nothing you write in it is sent to an AI. (Ask does hear the names and needs on your prayer list, unless you turn off “Ask remembers them”.) Deleting your account in the app removes the synced copies.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. Path & Light runs on iPhone and iPad, and your journal, highlights and reading position sync between them. See Path & Light for iPad.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. Android is planned for later.
How is Path & Light different from YouVersion and other Bible apps?
Path & Light puts Bible reading, short guided prayers, a private journal and Bible questions in one app, with no ads. Other apps do some things more fully, like YouVersion’s library of thousands of versions or Blue Letter Bible’s word-study tools. See how Path & Light compares.
How can my church use Path & Light?
A church plan gives your congregation Plus through one agreement priced by the size of your church. Members join with a code. See Churches.
What does Path & Light believe?
Path & Light is a Christian app. Scripture is our final authority, and we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as our doctrinal framework while welcoming readers from other Christian traditions. Read our full Statement of Faith.
Why the name Path & Light?
Psalm 119:105 describes God’s Word as a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. That’s the hope behind the app: to help you come back to Scripture as you take the next step in faith.
